The Ahmedabad Regional Office of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has filed prosecution against two city-based defaulting establishments for non-compliance of statutory provisions of the EPF scheme.
The action against Asarva-based Sanya GIC Imaging Pvt Ltd and Navrangura-based M S Enterprise was taken after these companies failed to upload ‘Digital Signature’ of authorized employees
Under EPF scheme, 1952, Central Provident Fund Commissioner last year had made uploading of ‘Digital Signature’ in respect of authorized persons of the establishment mandatory. Establishments were reminded to comply with these provisions however it was not done.
Prosecution has been filed under Section 14 of EPF & MP Act which can result in imprisonment for a term which may extend up to one year and/or fine which may extend up to Rs 4,000.
EPFO would be initiating prosecution against other defaulting establishments in due course.
D Remmei, regional PF commissioner, while confirming the development, said, “Each establishment having more than 50 members is required to upload the digital signature of its authorized persons.”
